This family-friendly hike takes participants on a guided walk through the preserved native grassland habitat.
As you walk the gentle loop, learn about the natural cycles of migration and metamorphosis in the Monarchs’ lives.
Meet Monarch caterpillars and adult butterflies up close and examine the chrysalis where their amazing transformation takes place.
Learn about butterfly “tagging” and other tracking efforts in the scientific community to protect this newly endangered species.
Identify the milkweed plant so crucial for Monarchs, and learn about actions your family can take to help preserve vital habitat for all pollinators.
Your guide will be Tim Puopolo, a Trustees ranger and naturalist, and recipient of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation’s “Outstanding Park Interpreter” award.
