Category: | Parades |
As in the past, the parade will form at the Medway VFW and begin at 10 a.m. to march down Holliston Street to the Colonel Michael Matondi Memorial Square.
The Medway High School band and the Worcester Kiltie band will again provide patriotic music; and MHS students will provide vocal arrangements and play Taps at Matondi Square.
Community organizations such at the Girl Scouts, Brownies and Boy Scouts are urged to participate.
Service veterans are urged to ride or march in the parade.
The Memorial Committee invites all to attend this years’ service, but especially those who have family members or friends who served in World War II. Medway WW II veterans are asked to call the town clerk’s office at 508-533-3204.
Each year during the memorial service, the names of Medway’s fallen heroes are read aloud as an honor to their sacrifice.
This year the town, through the Medway Memorial Committee, has purchased a banner for each of these fallen heroes. The banners will be erected along Holliston Street starting from Matondi Square.
In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held inside the Medway Village Church beginning at 11 a.m.
