'Leviathan is the best history of American whaling to come along in a generation' - Nathaniel Philbrick, author of In the Heart of the Sea and Mayflower.
In Levianthan, Eric Jay Dolin delivers the 300-year saga of 'iron men in wooden boats' in vibrant detail, integrating natural, literary, social and economic history into an epic account of the once-vital whaling industry. His talk and slide presentation inllustrate why whaling is such an important and fascinating part of America's past. Dolin, a resident of Marblehead, Massachusetts, received his Ph.D in environmental policy from MIT. The author of The Smithsonian Book of National Wildlife Refuges and Political Waters, he writes extensively about wildlife and the marine world.
