The Piti Theatre Company brings their dance-clown-theatre nature fable for family audiences Elmer and the Elder Tree to Boston Playwrights' Theatre from May 1-17.

Elmer is a city-dweller who loses his job, wanders into the countryside and learns to revive a desolate landscape – and his own happiness. The story, inspired by Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree and Jean Giono’s The Man Who Planted Trees, is an interactive event where children play roles on stage and the whole audience creates soundscapes.

There will be art and theatre workshops after the Saturday and Sunday matinees. Piti’s “Spring Seeds Gala” will take place after the May 16, 6 pm show with special guests and audience members invited.
.
Boston Playwrights' Theatre, 949 Commonwealth Ave., Boston.

The Piti Theatre Company, based in Shelburne Falls, MA and Les Ponts-de-Martel, Switzerland, was founded in 2004 and has been nominated twice for an Independent Reviewers of New England Award for Riding the Wave.com – Mirin’s autobiographical tale of stocks, love and spiritual searching. The production was featured in the New York Times, Boston Globe, San Jose Mercury News, International Herald Tribune and went on to play at Harvard Business School among other venues.
