Based on the book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan, Throughly Modern Millie tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City in 1922 to marry for money instead of love. Her intentions reflect the “modern” outlook of the time period; when women were entering the workforce, raising their hemlines, and bobbing their hair.

Millie soon begins to indulge in the flapper lifestyle, but problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by evil and exotic Mrs. Meers, leader of a white slavery ring.
