Sing and dance while exploring the many lands touched by the African diaspora in this family workshop with Leslie Salmon Jones & Cornell 'Sugarfoot' Coley.

In this workshop, you will learn about music and culture from different regions in Africa, including Senegal, Nigeria, Ghana, and the Congo. Then, you will travel across the Atlantic Ocean to sing songs and learn folkloric dances from the Americas, including Haiti, Brazil, Cuba, and North America. Leslie and Cornell will invite you to explore the relationships between all of these regions, while encouraging you to recognize the ways in which these cultures’ musical and dance forms intertwine and influence one another.

Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
