On March 11th, 12th and 13th South School’s Cooperative Theater presents, Disney’s Mulan Jr. The cast includes more than 60 members of Andover’s South Elementary School, from grades 3, 4 and 5. The story of Mulan takes place in ancient China, when both men and women have very specific roles to play.

Mulan is a girl who doesn’t quite fit in. Mulan discovers that her ill father has been called to fight in the war against the Hun Army. To save her father’s life, Mulan disguises herself as a male soldier in order to fight the war in his place. With the guidance of her ancestors and “two friendly neighborhood dragons”, Mulan fights bravely in her father’s place and proves that not all things are set in stone. This young cast has been diligently rehearsing since December. Their hard work and enthusiasm radiates through every act!

Leading the production are Beth Kennedy as artistic director/choreographer; choreographer Crystal O’Keefe; Jen Montgomery and Krista Ludvino as drama directors; and music directors Hillary Brooks and Amanda Potts. The production team has been hard working with the students from South School in order to make this a wonderful live theater experience for families.

Performances will be at West Middle School in Andover, at 7:00 pm on Friday March 11 and Saturday, March 12 as well as a third performance at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 13. Tickets are $8.00. They will be on sale the week before the show from 8:15-9:00 in the lobby at South School. They will also be sold all week at Andover’s The Learning Express and Bella Beads. They will also be available for purchase at the door before each performance. Come and support these aspiring actors and actresses. We promise you will not be disappointed!
