Ten principal dancers of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will be showcased in a two-night only performance hosted by Boston Youth Moves (BYM) as part of “Swellegance 2011 - A Spark Ignites: A Celebration in Dance.” The two-night show at the Boston University Tsai Performance Center will be the only times that members of the dance company will be in Boston this year. Saturday's performance will feature original choreography and world premiers as well as excerpts from the Ailey Company’s repertoire including “Revelations.”
VIPs scheduled at this evening's celebration include Tony-Award-winner, and 2008 Lifetime Achievement recipient, Chita Rivera; Govenor Patrick, and Martha H. Jones, President and Executive Director of Celebrity Series Boston.
The BYM Program is known throughout New England as the premiere pre-professional dance training ground for teens, ages 13-19.
