Pirate Long John Silver and his parrot, Flint find a sea chest full of stories. The stories, “How the Whale Got His Throat” and “A Little Mermaid”, are told using a combination of hand and shadow puppets. The story of “Ocean Born Mary”, the NH pirate legend, is told with hand puppets. Lots of laughs and audience participation, singing and yo ho ho!

Shadow puppetry is one of the more ancient forms of puppetry. Some think of 'hand shadows' - getting ready for home movies and making doggies and bunnies from the projector lighting. Historically, shadow puppets are traced back about 2000 years to Indonesia and Asia - some made of leather that is dyed - used to depict dream or other worldly stories for royalty. Most recently, shadow puppets were used in Pee Wees Playhouse and by Richard Bradshaw on the Muppet Show and in many recent movies - once you see it, you know what it is.
