The Performance: Dance Prism presents its latest original ballet production Aladdin, an exotic adventure based on Scheherazade’s Tales of A Thousand and One Nights stories. Aladdin follows the impulsive young thief on a magical adventure from rags to riches with the help of a Genie, all for the love of a Princess.
The production features the legendary narrator Scheherazade, harem dancers, gypsies, street vendors and of course the Genie.
Aladdin is a fully staged ballet with colorful scenery, over 200 costumes and professional lighting. The production is suitable for all ages.
The Choreographers of this original Aladdin ballet are Mary Demaso and Miranda Bailey. Mary Demaso, is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Dance Prism. Miranda Bailey is a soloist with the Columbia City Ballet, Columbia, SC, in her eleventh season with the company.
After the Performance, children may meet Aladdin, the Princess, the Genie and others at a complementary reception following the performance.
Dance Prism is New England’s Premier Touring Ballet Company. Now celebrating its 29th season, Dance Prism has performed widely throughout New England since it was founded in 1982. Dance Prism’s goal is to bring affordable, full spectrum ballet into the communities of New England.
Dance Prism is a not for profit organization. Dance Prism's annual production of “The Nutcracker” and other classical and original ballets are performed in cities that include Worcester, Andover, Sudbury, Fall River and Littleton.
Lecture Demonstrations and Workshops: Dance Prism Company members tour New England throughout the year offering Lecture-Demonstrations and Dance-related Workshops to private and public schools, libraries and retirement communities.
