Bowen was at the top of my list. Then I went in to see the space and my gut reaction was overwhelming. Parents dropping off their kids greeted me in the hall with smiles enthusiastic words.
Priscilla, the Director, was in the 3-day classroom exuding warmth with a nurturing arm around a child. Parents were gathering in the kitchen and chatting over coffee while younger siblings were playing with blocks in the main room. It felt like a family gathering, not a preschool. It felt just right.
Bowen co-op Nursery School offers programs for 3 and 4 year olds as well as a TK class for older 4s and younger 5s. It’s a hands-on, play-based curriculum.
Classes are small (5:1 child to adult ratio younger classes) and the teachers are extremely qualified. They have a fantastic space and a beautiful playground surrounded by trees.
And it’s a co-op! Volunteering in the classroom, sitting on the board, visiting the school and going on field trips are just a few examples of how this welcoming community encourages parental involvement.
