Volunteers may register for a variety of roles.
These roles may encompass a wide array of skills and interest, ranging from registering athletes and distributing information, to providing course side refreshments at water and food stations, all while promoting WGBH!

Saturday, April 11, 11am: WGBH 5K Run for Public Media Description: Runners will charge up their Fitbit and hit the starting line with fellow fans of WGBH TV and Radio as we kick off our inaugural 5K road race.
The USATF-certified course travels through the DCR Artesani Park in Brighton and around the scenic Charles River.
All volunteers should arrive for their shifts at DCR Artesani Park, 1234 Soldiers Field Rd., Brighton, MA 02135
WGBH 5k Run for Public Media Position Descriptions and Shift Times:
WGBH Shuttle Volunteer, 8:30am-2pm: Facilitate folks getting on and off shuttle vans at the WGBH Parking Garage
Parking Volunteer, 8:30am-2pm: Greet runners, orient them to the bib pick up, registration table, and bag check areas
Bib Pick-up/Registration Volunteer, 7am-2pm: Hand out bibs to runners who have already registered, and register last minute runners.
Note: Bib Pick-up Volunteers are also needed on Thursday, 4/9, and Friday, 4/10, from 4-7pm here at WGBH (in the lobby of One Guest Street).
Bag Check Volunteer, 7am-2pm: Check in runners’ bags, and oversee the area to maintain organization and safety of belongings
Food Station Volunteer, 9:30am-2pm: Hand out drinks and food to runners as they finish the race, congratulate them!
Volunteer Photographer, 10am-2pm: Take pictures of runners and the event.
Pictures will be used for social media purposes and photos will be uploaded on Facebook.
Volunteer Photography Assistant, 10am-2pm: Ask guests posing for pictures to sign an appearance release form
Arrow Holder/Energetic WGBH 5K Ambassador Volunteers, 10am-1pm: Hold arrows signs to guide runners along the course, cheer on and encourage runners
Volunteer Costume Handler, 10am-2pm: Assist costume character move about the crowds at event
Curious George Costume Wearer, 10am-2pm: Dress in Curious George costume and help engage with runners, hand out bananas at the end of the race (character size requirements: 5’1”-5’3”, average build)
Running Pep Squad Volunteer, 9:30am-1pm: Keep up high energy to encourage runners along the course, cheer
Water Station Volunteer, 9:30am-1pm: Hand out water at each mile marker on the course (a great team-building opportunity for groups, too!)
Volunteers are critical to our ability to provide a safe, well organized event.
Without volunteers, a 5K race would be logistically impossible to produce.
