The Boston Red Sox start defending their World Series championship Thursday, March 28 in Seattle to take on the Mariners. Here's what you need to know.The defending MLB champions open the season on a lengthy West Coast swing, playing Opening Day in Seattle on Thursday, March 28. Chris Sale will take the mound at 7:10 p.m. (that's a 4:10pm start local time PST) as the Red Sox face the Mariners in a four-game set.

Starting with Friday's 10:10 p.m. start, four of Boston's first 11 games will start after 10. From Seattle they go to Oakland for the Athletics, then to Arizona for the Diamondbacks.
The Red Sox will play their home opener at Fenway Park on Tuesday, April 9, at 2:05 p.m. against the Toronto Blue Jays. Their first night game will be Thursday, April 11, at 7:05.
