The Boston Parks and Recreation Department invites city residents to exercise their minds with “Knights in the Parks,” chess games with tips offered by Michael Howell, a ranked player with the United States Chess Federation.

This free summer program will be held evenings from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Alvah Kittredge Park, 10 Linwood Street, Roxbury on Monday, July 8, and Monday, July 15.

An additional session will be held at Gertrude Howes Playground, 68 Moreland Street, Roxbury, on Tuesday, July 16, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
