Saturday, September 4th is the Grand Finale Weekend of the Highland Street Foundation’s Free Fun Fridays—and a Saturday, Too! summer-long program that enabled free admission to a different museum or cultural attraction every Friday throughout the summer.
GEODESIC DOMES
Drop-in 11 AM to 3 PM Science Discovery
Discover how math, geometry, structure, and engineering come together as you help construct a 6-foot dome! Learn about Buckminster Fuller, inventor of the geodesic dome, and see pictures of geodesic structures from sports stadiums and houses, to buckyballs, carbon nanotubes, diatoms, and viruses! Find out how to use everyday materials to create your own small dome at home.
CELEBRATING GRANDPARENTS
Drop-in 10 AM to 12 PM Children’s Discovery
In celebration of National Grandparents Day on Sunday, September 12th, come create a messy masterpiece in honor of your grandparents using your hands and many colors of finger paint. Touch and experiment with color as your fingers squish and move through the paint.
