Each one week session of Summer Adventures introduces a new theme and brings that theme to life through literature, geography, science, art and music. In addition to classroom activities, students have the opportunity to play games and sports outside and visit scenic Niles Beach.

Passports to the World: (7/11- 7/15) is a program in which students explore a new country each day. We will listen to music and stories, try a craft and make a dish from the country du jour.

Words and Pictures:(7/18-7/22) is a storytelling, literacy and bookbinding class. Students will learn the components of storytelling, creating characters, plots and settings. Students will express their story on paper through words and illustrations, and transfer their stories onto their very own handmade books.

Invention Convention: (7/25-7/29) focuses on imagination and the practice of inventing new things. Students come up with a problem and work through ways to solve it with a new invention as a group and individually.

Living Planet: (8/1-8/5) students will explore how an ecosystem works and we will learn about the importance of recycling. Each day students will make a useful object out of a reusable item.

Summer Adventures is for students ages 4 – 12.

The program runs Monday through Friday from 9am – 1pm, with the potential for students ages 9 – 12 to join a group from the Boston School of Modern Languages on afternoon field trips around Cape Ann from 1pm – 4pm.
