Join Discovery Center educators for a special Star Party, taking place from 8 pm – Midnight. The Perseid meteor shower is the most prominent meteor shower of the summer. Learn about the constellation Perseus and where it lies in the night sky.

Discover how meteor shower phenomena occur and why the Perseids are a sky watcher’s favorite. Inclement weather date is Wednesday, August 12th. For your comfort, we suggest bringing lawn chairs, blankets, flashlight, bug repellant, and to dress in layers for variable temperature outdoor viewing.

8-9:30 PM - Have some pizza & explore the Exhibit Area
9:30-10 PM - “What is a meteor shower and what are the Perseids?”, a special presentation
10 PM - Head outside for naked-eye viewing of meteor showers, and guided telescope viewing of other celestial delights with Discovery Center educators! Restrooms available until midnight.
