Explore more than 700 interactive exhibits, attend live presentations, experience indoor lightning storms, participate in hands-on demonstrations, and even view a free IMAX® film or Planetarium show. (Date restrictions apply; see Special Dates, below.)

Special Dates:
PLEASE NOTE: The Museum is closed Tuesday, September 4. The Planetarium is also closed Monday, September 10 through Friday, September 14 for regularly scheduled maintenance. Visit our online schedule to plan your trip!
September 15 and 22: Enjoy a free MBTA train trip to Boston! Meet at the Salem MBTA station and receive a free, round-trip ticket valid for the 10:38 a.m. train to North Station and a same-day return. Upon arrival at North Station, Museum staff and volunteers will guide Salem residents on a short walk to the Museum. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult. The City of Salem, the Museum of Science, and the MBTA are not responsible for unsupervised children.
Free Admission Details:
For your free admission passes to the Exhibit Halls, Charles Hayden Planetarium, and Mugar Omni Theater, check your mailbox or visit Salem City Hall, the Salem Public Library, or the Salem Parks and Recreation Department (located at 5 Broad Street).
For use by Salem, MA residents only. As proof of residency, a valid MA driver's license or photo ID card is required. Date restrictions apply; see passes and Special Dates, above, for details. Not valid for Butterfly Garden or 3-D Digital Cinema; separate ticket required for these venues. Not valid for special exhibitions or venues requiring separate admission. Not available for phone or online orders, or for school or other group reservations. May not be combined with other offers, and passes are not for resale.
