Looking to do something festive and free this holiday season? The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), will hold a FREE Community Day on Thursday, December 31, from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. offering free admission to the public.

You'll be able to view to the museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions such as The Secrets of Tomb 10A: Egypt 2000 BC; Harry Callahan: American Photographer; and Café and Cabaret: Toulouse-Lautrec’s Paris. Additional free offerings will include guided museum tours, gallery talks, and self-guided family activities.

The December 31 Free Community Day is part of the MFA’s 9 in ’09 initiative, offering free Museum admission once per month (nine times) through 2009, providing opportunities for all families to enjoy the Museum and its treasures.

Additionally, as part of the First Night New Year’s Eve celebrations in Boston, master ice carver Steve Rose will recreate the Bersha Procession, a 4,000-year-old sculpture currently on view in The Secrets of Tomb 10A exhibition. The sculpture will be on view December 31 on Boston Common.
