Christmas Trees
The farm has about 40 Christmas trees left that they'd love to sell you! They grow these trees on conservation land that surrounds the Melone Homestead, so they are truly local, and organic! All trees are $75 (regardless of size) and can be cut only during the Open House (Saturday December 4th from 10:00 to 2:00). You are encouraged to bring your own saw.
They will have twine and some helpers on hand. This limited number of trees will be sold on a first come, first served basis. The trees are far enough away from the parking area that you will want to wear good sturdy shoes and be prepared to carry your tree some distance.
A word about these trees: Unlike commercially grown trees, the ones at lands Sake are not constantly shaved and shaped and coddled. They are pruned occasionally, but they are much more 'au naturel' than the trees you would find at a nursery or commercial tree seller.
This is not to say that they are totally Charlie Brown trees, but they have character; they might have a 'bad side' or more space between the branches than other trees. That said, it'd be hard to get a fresher, more local tree-- you'd be amazed at how much longer a local, fresh-cut tree lasts!
Wreaths
Farmer Hilary Crowell has been hard at work making a limited number of wreaths which will be sold at the open house on Saturday, December 4th. They come in two sizes. The small wreaths are $15 and the larger ones are $25. Bow included! You can't get a more locally made wreath and they are just lovely! You may have noticed Hilary's handiwork this Fall. Her beautiful onion braids bedecked our farm stand and her wreaths are just as pretty!
