For fire, see an exciting demonstration of historical 19th- century hand-pump fire trucks, and lend a hand by helping to pump the water. Enjoy a fire truck parade around the Common. For ice, cool off with demonstrations of 18th- and 19th-century ice-cream making using period tools, techniques, recipes, and ingredients.
Popular flavors in the 18th century included gooseberry, ginger, and even asparagus ice cream.
