Please join us at 5pm on Wednesday, December 7th, for a pre-holiday party and reading of Chris Van Allsburg’s contemporary classic Polar Express. This event is appropriate for all ages and includes an interactive storytime, dress up, snacks, and a craft.
It benefits the local grassroots project Rebuilding Rounds, with the ultimate goal of renovating Rounds Playground in Stoneham, MA. It promises to be a fun, affordable family event that helps bring the community together.
Rounds Playground in Stoneham, MA needs help Most of the equipment is unusable: the ducks are listing, the slide is broken, the sandbox is falling apart, and no one knows what to make of that yellow climbing structure. Help rebuild this playground and increase Stoneham property values, create a community space, and promote active children!
Says Executive Committee Chair and Rebuilding Rounds founder Angelika Paul in the Stoneham Independent, “I am still stunned that people are really taken with the idea of rebuilding a neighborhood playground…Everyone agreed that the playground needed help.”
The event is free but donations are accepted at the door. The event is at Stoneham TV at 53 Central Street. There is plenty of municipal and street parking available nearby. In case of inclement weather the snow date is Saturday, December 10, at 3pm. The story is about a boy who is swept away on an overnight adventure so please wear your pajamas to get in the spirit and be ready to believe.
Rebulding Rounds was founded in the spring of 2011 and there are over one hundred volunteers. They have been working with many supporters, from the town government, the library, and Stoneham TV. They’ve had a presence at Stoneham Town Day and the Farm Hill Farmer’s Market. They’re networking with similar groups in other towns. Their goal is to improve the Rounds Playground while building a valuable community space.
