On Tuesday, July 18, Boston will welcome Amerigo Vespucci, a full-rigged, 330-foot ship sailing from Italy. This spectacular ship will dock at the World Trade Center's Fan Pier in the Seaport District on Tuesday morning through Saturday before leaving to travel to New York.
Those who would like to tour the large ship can head to Fan Pier in Boston's Seaport District from July 18th to July 21st at the following times*:
Tuesday, July 18 4:30 – 6:30 PM
Wednesday, July 19 3:30 – 4:30 PM
Thursday, July 20 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Friday, July 21 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM and 3:30 – 6:30 PM
*Visiting hours are subject to change at the captain’s discretion.
Amerigo Vespucci was once used to train junior Italian naval officers since it opened for operation in 1931 with a crew of 270. The ship's stay in Boston is part of the crew's six-month sailing journey across the Atlantic, which began at the vessel's home port in La Spezia in April.
