Now in its 17th year, Kites Against Cancer was created by Anne-Marie Viviano, a former Exeter Hospital cancer patient who had a vision to fill the sky with kites as a sign of hope and support of other cancer patients and their loved ones.
The kick-off event is Kites at the Beach, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 16 behind the pavilion at Hampton Beach.
The community is invited to honor and remember loved ones affected by cancer by letting their kites fly high. Bring a kite or purchase one at many local retailers throughout the Seacoast, or at the beach on the day of the event.
Several other Kites Against Cancer community-based events are being planned. More information can be found on at unitedinwellness.org or on the Kites Against Cancer Facebook page.
Proceeds from Kites Against Cancer season benefit the Beyond the Rainbow Fund, helping Exeter Hospital cancer patients in need.
All events will follow COVID-19 protocol, including social distancing guidelines and masks.
Sponsorships are available. Please contact Mike Wilson at Exeter Hospital at 603-580-6434.
