'Winterlights: A Circle of Peace' is public light installation in a field in Highland Park, Roxbury, a circle of trees breathing light from dusk to dawn.

It was designed and built by Mark Schafer and Yvon Augustin, with local teenagers and supported by the Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture.

TIPS↑ top

  • Park on the street on any side of the field and walk into the middle of the field to get the full effect of standing in the circle of peace created by eight trees slowly breathing light in and out. Bring a thermos of hot chocolate, coffee, or tea, and sit at one of the three picnic benches in the center of the field to fully enjoy the experience. Or just drive by it and watch the lights from the warm comfort of your vehicle.
