Fanta is an engaging spirit from Mafanko, Guinea who will be teaching her first dance workshop in the US. She will teach the Mendiani as danced in the traditional way. Live drumming as well as singing the rhythms will take place. While Mendiani can be complicated, we believe this important danceshould be leaned as a first dance and we will make it easy and fun.
The Mendiani (usually spelled Mandiani) Dance is a traditional dance from Guinea and Mali. There are many versions of Mendiani in West Africa. We will be learning the Mendiani as danced in many villages of Guinea especially the village of Sangbarala as brought to Conakry. We will also have a chance to use the Mendiani-Kala!
For beginners as well as more advanced dancers.
Cost - $30.-
Limited to 15 students. First come first served. You must advance register for
this class.
