Boston Children’s Museum will host its annual Chinese New Year Festival in celebration of the Year of the Tiger on Sunday, February 28, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This year’s celebration will feature many performances including the traditional Chinese Lion Dance by Yang’s Martial Arts Association of Andover. Other performances include Chinese opera by Boston Beijing Opera Association, storytelling of the folk tale Madame White Snake, and martial arts demonstrations by Bow Sim Mark Tai Chi Arts Association.

Families can also participate in many traditional games and crafts including playing with tangram puzzles and making red envelopes. They can create fun Year of the Tiger crafts such as folding a paper tiger and making a tiger hat or collage. Shadow puppet workshops will take place in the Art Studio and will require participants to sign up in advance.

Participating in Boston Children’s Museum’s Chinese New Year Festival allows visitors to experience Chinese culture and tradition firsthand!
