The night will begin with programs director David Aguilar taking a look at the state of astronomy knowledge in 1930, the year that Observatory Nights began. Then, CfA directory Dr. Charles Alcock will present a lecture titled “The Universe: 2010 and Beyond.” He will discuss what great mysteries now confront astronomy, and what the next generation of observatories will look like.
There will be free space posters given out and drawings for astronomy books, four Galilean Telescopes, and CfA T-shirts. One lucky grand prize winner will receive a private observatory viewing night for friends or family.
Everyone will enjoy special tours of the 15-inch Great Refractor telescope, see historic images of the universe from 1930 to today, and view the heavens through telescopes - weather permitting.
