The sister-city relationship between Boston and Kyoto is one of the oldest in the world and still very active. Boston Children's Museum is the home of Kyo-no-Machiya, an authentic silk merchant's house from Kyoto, Japan, that was given to the city of Boston by Kyoto in 1979.
Ms. Furimoto is also one of the Kyo-no-Machiya preservationists in Kyoto. She appears in the new video “Many Homes in Kyoto, Japan”, now showing in the Japanese House at Boston Children’s Museum.
Fun games and activities may include:

• Watching a gymnastic formation by Kyoto Kids
• Trying Kendama Japanese Cup & Ball Game & then make your own
• Playing O-tedama – beanbag games
• Creating Kami-hikoki – paper plane
• Spinning the Koma Japanese Tops & then make your own recycle tops
• Folding Origami paper craft
• Learning how to write friendship in Japanese and design a friendship exchange card
