Essex Heritage and the National Park Service will hold the inaugural passenger sail of tall ship, Friendship of Salem, Labor Day Weekend, September 4 & 5, 2010. The vessel will travel to and participate in the annual Gloucester Schooner Festival. On Saturday, September 4th, the 6-hour inaugural sail from Derby Wharf to Gloucester will leave at 7:30AM from Derby Wharf. On Sunday, September 5th, the ship will provide a 6 hour day sail to participate and observe the annual Gloucester Schooner Festival.

Both excursions are open to the general public. Tickets for this exclusive event are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each ticket ($185.00/$250.00) will provide for a 6 hour sail, the opportunity to help sail the vessel as a volunteer and participate on supervised “watches”, interact with Park Service interpreters who will share information about the ship, life of the crew and officers and the China trade that made Salem a port of international renown.
