This year, at the 2nd annual boston book festival, union park press will be hosting a city wide creative writing project. The first line of short shorts (this is code for really short stories) have been donated by the likes of dennis lehane, junot díaz, and nick flynn--as well as many other creative and talented bostonians. Some sentences are fact, some fiction--all of the lines have something to do with boston. Each story is limited to one to two pages of text. When one story ends, the next begins. The end result will be a collection of short-shorts, available for download (and for free) after the festival.

Want to join in on the fun? Submit a sentence to be used as a prompt (we're going to select 5 from comments on our blog), or stop by our booth the day of the boston book festival to add the next line to a story that is being written. Then check back to see how that story--and others--end!
