Kids can solve age-appropriate math puzzles and play games with prizes, as well as eat birthday cake, and receive a free copy of the school’s unique commemorative “Number 11” booklet that contains fun facts, puzzles and tricks having to do with the number 11.
Parents can also sign their children up in advance for a free placement test that will be given that day and speak directly to the staff about the school's innovative math and chess programs.
Founded in 2003 by several Sudbury residents and currently under the direction of Dr. Anna Charny, the school is affiliated with and modeled after the successful program developed at the Russian School of Mathematics in Newton and has been growing steadily since then providing quality education to children in grades K-12. Students can take math, chess, and Math SAT preparation classes seven days a week with professionals from both academia and industry. A US Chess Federation master heads the chess program.
Besides class instruction, the school holds optional and age-appropriate math puzzle contests on a monthly basis with prizes for everyone who participates. The school also participates in national contests, including Math Olympiads, MOEMS, Math Kangaroo, and AMC 8, 10 and 12, offering free tutoring for students interested in competing.
