celebrate china photoThe Peabody Essex Museum brings its shared Oriental heritage to Mandarin Oriental, Boston for a day full of festivities and celebration.

Adults and children can immerse themselves in Chinese culture with a variety of educational activities and exciting experiences, including:

• Creating a whimsical folding fan inspired by Mandarin Oriental, Boston’s signature fan, which is housed in the PEM’s permanent collection, or a colorful paper lantern

• Listening as storyteller Li Min Mo shares special stories about Chinese culture
• Learning the significance of Tai Chi as well as a selection of movements
• Experiencing a heart-pounding lion dance performance
• Seeing a demonstration of Chinese brush painting by artist Yahong Shen then experimenting with the technique

• Discovering the flavors of China by tasting an assortment of hot and iced teas for adults and children as well as luscious Mandarin oranges
• Exploring Chinese culture further with a selection of Chinese-themed books available to purchase from Barefoot Books
