Recognizing that there is little good reason left for Bostonians to be rocking jerseys with the names Beckett, Crawford or Gonzalez emblazoned on their backs, the Cask ‘n Flagon is providing a public service by giving Red Sox fans the chance to free up valuable closet space.

The Cask announced today it will host an on-site jersey drop off to encourage fans to
trade in their Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, and Adrian Gonzalez gear in exchange for
50% off one item of Cask merchandise.

The jerseys that are dropped off will then be donated to various non-profits in the Greater Los Angeles area.

The promotion will officially kick off at the Cask ‘n Flagon, located at 62 Brookline Ave.,
on Friday, September 7 from 4-7 p.m., when the Sox return home to face off with AL
East foe Toronto Blue Jays.

Fans can bring their jerseys to the drop bin at the Cask merchandise booth and receive their discounted merchandise.

Fans will also have a chance to sign a “Thank You” card to Magic Johnson, co-owner of
the Los Angeles Dodgers, for taking the expensive contracts of Beckett, Crawford, and
Gonzalez off the hands of the Red Sox.
