Mayor Menino invites Boston residents of all ages to explore a world of cultures, traditions, and fun at this free holiday celebration.
Participants will enjoy festive music and entertainment including a traditional Chinese New Year Lion Cub Dance, a performance by OrigNation, children’s games from throughout the world, take-home arts and craft projects, a taste of delicious ethnic treats, a classic holiday movie, and a special visit from Santa Claus.
Families will be invited to celebrate various cultures by playing games from around the globe. Participatory activities will include a piñata, dreidels, and a wooden block game with the intriguing syllabary of the Chinese and Hebrew languages.
An additional game of blocks features 28 commonly found words in six languages: Spanish, simple Mandarin, French, German, Latin, and English. Children will be also be encouraged to unlock their creative minds by playing the Scheherazade storytelling game using images on 120 small tiles.
Refreshments will include hot chocolate provided by Dunkin' Donuts and cookies from Great Taste Bakery of Chinatown. Free parking is available at the clubhouse parking lot located at One Circuit Drive in Franklin Park. By MBTA, take the Orange Line to Forest Hills and the #16 bus.
