RSM-MetroWest (formerly the MetroWest School of Mathematics) kicks off its popular summer program with a Math Fair and Open House featuring age-appropriate math puzzles and games for kids, such as “Pin the Mustache on Albert Einstein” and “Bean Bag Addition,” as well as other unique math experiences and seasonal refreshments.

Every child who attends receives a copy of the school’s unique “Number 13” fact and puzzle booklet, the fourth in a series created by the school to commemorate special numbers.

Free math evaluations are available for children during the day by calling 508-283-1355 to pre-register, while parents will have the opportunity to meet with the school's director and staff to learn more about their renowned year-round afterschool math, chess, and SAT prep programs.

Parents can also learn about the new intensive 3-week summer courses, as well as other summer programs such as Math Challenge & Competition, High School Prep, SAT Math & English Prep, Chess, Robotics, and English for grades 7-10.

The summer program at RSM-MetroWest runs for 6 weeks from July 8-August 16 for grades K-12 with classes meeting twice per week for 2-4 hours, depending on the grade level.

This year the school is also offering two 3-week intensive courses for grades 1-6 that run either July 8-July 26 or July 29-August 16, with classes taking place four times per week.

Founded as the MetroWest School of Mathematics in 2003 by several Sudbury residents, including current director Dr. Anna Charny, the school formally changed its name to RSM-MetroWest in April 2012, to reflect its affiliation with the Russian School of Mathematics (RSM).

Over 900 children in grades K-12 take math, chess, and Math SAT preparation classes weekdays from 4:00 to 8:45 PM and weekends from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The school employs experienced educators as well as professionals from academia and industry, who are passionate about teaching children: a US Chess Federation master heads the chess program.

The school also holds optional and age-appropriate math puzzle contests on a monthly basis with prizes for everyone who participates and participates in national Math Olympiads, offering free preparation classes for enrolled students interested in competing in math contests.
