Service to be held at 12:00 noon in the Church of the Presidents in Quincy Center, the memorial will feature guest speakers who will reflect the life and times of President John Adams, a direct descendant of pilgrims John and Pricilla Alden. The program will feature guest musicians including the Navy Brass Ensemble of Newport Rhode Island.
The service will conclude with the official presentation of the White House wreath, which will be laid upon John Adams tomb by the United States Navy honor guard. John Adams, John Quincy Adams and their wives are all interred in the United First Parish Church, also known as the Church of the Presidents.
About John Adams
Born October 30, 1735, John Adams was the driving force in the movement for American independence. He served as Vice President under President George Washington, and President 1797-1801, before retiring to the family farm in Quincy.
John Adams lived to see his son John Quincy Adams, become the 6th President before dying on July 4th 1826, on the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and just hours after the passing of his longtime friend and political foil, President Thomas Jefferson.
