The New Center for Arts & Culture presents activist and writer Letty Cottin Pogrebin to speak about her remarkable life and career; from the founding of Ms. Magazine (one of the first magazines for women, published by women) to her latest book, How to Be a Friend to a Friend Who's Sick.

Addressed with sympathy and humor, Pogrebin’s new book draws on her personal struggles after her cancer diagnosis to offer guidance to those dealing with a friend’s illness or significant loss.

Pogrebin will talk about how her latest personal experience draws on a life of activism and how her Jewish heritage has informed both her empathy for others and her insistence on speaking out.

She will be joined in conversation by Robin Young, the award-winning host of NPR’s “Here & Now.”
