75% of the crop, planted on approximately 7 acres, is harvested in May and sold at the farm stand.
It is also the centerpiece of the buffet served at the Festival which includes:
• Steve Verrill leads a tour of the asparagus field, talks about growing and harvesting the crop and encourages everyone to pick a few stalks before heading back to the stand for lunch.
• an asparagus themed buffet inspired by the crop, plus dessert and a beverage
• a demo and tips on preparing and cooking asparagus with Chef Kevin Carey Reservations required.
