Springstep’s dance floor will be jumping with live music by contra dance band Apple Crisp and instruction from caller Hannah Naiman. The afternoon’s dances, games and snacks will be geared for children ages 2-10, but babes-in-arms, as well as teenagers and adults are welcome.
A longtime dancer and caller from Ontario, Canada, Naiman grew up going to family dances and is thrilled about the chance to pass on the tradition. Her job for the afternoon is to walk everyone through the steps, so beginners have nothing to worry about. The point is just to have fun.
Apple Crisp is a father-son contra dance band featuring Avi Fagan on the vibraphone, his son Jonathan Fagan on the piano. They’ll be joined by Keith Kirkpatrick on the dulcimer and David Neiman on the bass.
