A weekend of hands-on origami workshops and demonstrations celebrate the opening of the PEM's 'Origami Now!' exhibit. Sunday is paper airplane day!

Saturday Events
Artist Demonstration with Jeremy Shafer: noon - 2 pm
Origami master, author and performer Jeremy Shafer, who will delight and amuse you with his demonstration of giant “action” origami works and more. Shafer has performed for audiences internationally and has designed literally hundreds of original origami models. He is particularly well known for his humorous, animated demonstrations, which include folding origami on a unicycle and other surprising elements!

Origami Drop-in Art Activity: 1 - 3 pm
Create your own origami sculptures to take home, using designs created by featured exhibition artist and origami Master Michael LaFosse.

Workshop with Jeremy Shafer: 2:30-3:30 pm (For families with children ages 4 and up.)

Novice and experienced folders alike are invited to participate. Weather permitting, participants will watch Shafer fold his famous “flaming crane” model in the PEM garden.

Sunday Events
Experience the art of airplane folding demonstrations and workshops. Compete for distance and time aloft against your previous records or against others in one of three age categories. Prizes, fun, and plenty of applause are among the rewards! Awards ceremony begins at 3:45 pm.

Airplane-Folding Demonstration: 11-12:30 pm

Airplane-Making Workshops: 1, 1:30, 2, and 2:30 pm

Flying Contest: 2-3:45 pm
