Thousands of women worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard during World War II.
They fulfilled roles from painters to welders, and riveters to sheet metal workers.
Their efforts played a critical role in the outcome of the war and left a lasting mark on American history.
Come join us in remembering and celebrating the work of these Shipbuilding Women of the Navy!
Hands on History: Twist your own rope, make a Navy Yard work badge, pick up a SWON coloring book, snap a picture at the “We Can Do It!” selfie booth, and more!
Rosie’s Navy Yard: Join a ranger for a walking tour focusing on the women workers of World War II.
DD-793 USS Cassin Young: Explore the ship using the park’s brand new app, or join a ranger-guided tour.
Rosie’s Legacy Speaker Series: Learn about the social, cultural, and personal stories of the women workers of WWII, including a keynote by Marla Miller from UMass Amherst and a panel discussion.
Vehicles for Victory: See vintage vehicles from World War II that were transported aboard Boston-built ships.
Rosie Roll Call: View photographs and newspaper articles featuring the SWON’s who worked at the yard.

Swing Dance: Put on your best dress or zoot suit and dance the night away as a band plays live on Pier 1!
Lessons start at 6:30 p.m. Dance at 7 p.m.
Sunday, August 13:
Mood Swings Orchestra: Grab a seat and listen as 19 jazz-loving women play big band swing tunes.
