It will begin promptly at 11:00am from Newport City Hall and will proceed to Carroll Avenue at Saint Augustin’s Church in the heart of the Fifth Ward.
The parade this year is estimated to last 2 hours and will include Pipe Bands, Marching Bands, Fife & Drum Corps, Clown Units, reenactment units, and a host of local, state, and regional organizations including police and fire units, social/fraternal organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Schools, and non-profits.
The Newport Saint Patrick's Day Parade is always held on the Saturday preceding March 17th (St. Patrick's Day), unless the 17th is a Saturday in which case it is held on that day.
Each year we honor two individuals, a Grand Marshal and a Dedicant. This year, the parade is dedicated to Garrett M. 'Gary' Loftus and the Grand Marshal is Robert 'Rocky' Kempenaar II.

The parade route runs 1.6 miles, primarily south along Thames Street, to Saint Augustin's Church in Newport's historic Fifth Ward. After the parade, the Martin Recreation Center at 35 Golden Hill Street hosts the St. Patrick's Day Family Celebration. This alcohol-free event will have step dancing, bag piping, face painting, and cash prizes for the 'Most Green' attendees. The celebration is family friendly and admission is free. Newport's parade has typically drawn thousands of attendees. Some of the best parking options are at the Gateway Visitors Center at 23 America’s Cup Ave and the Mary St. parking lot between Lower Mary St. and lower Church St.
