The center closed in the spring of 2006 for a $5 million dollar renovation of the entire building including: upgrade to gym and running track, office spaces, bathrooms, boilers and controls, all lighting, painting, plumbing, heating and masonry repairs. The old health center space and the current Registry of Motor Vehicles spaces were reconfigured and the community center spaces were reconfigured. The main entrance is now on Cummings Highway.
