Lunar New Year, Chinese Chunjie, Vietnamese Tet, Korean Solnal, Tibetan Losar, also called Spring Festival, is typically celebrated in China and other Asian countries that begins with the first new moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the first full moon of the lunar calendar, 15 days later.
During the momentous holiday, friends and family members gather and wish one another prosperity, good health and longevity in the new year. 2024 brings the Year of the Dragon, symbolizing growth, prosperity, happiness and abundance.
Join QARI for the 36th Annual Lunar New Year Festival in Quincy, MA and for celebrations in Providence, RI and New York City to welcome the Year of the Dragon in February 2024.
Each New Year is named for one of the twelve animals. According to ancient legend, the Lord Buddha once summoned all animals to come to him.
When only twelve came, he rewarded them by challenging the animals to race and naming each year for them in the order they finished.
Note: Numbers expected to surpass 4,000 with children and family activities.
