Boston's Run to Remember honors Massachusetts law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. This event now in its 5th year includes a half marathon through the city of Boston, as well as a 5-mile road race.

In 2009, over 5,000 runners will participate in this run for fallen heroes, and some of them will be paying tribute to people who lost their lives to cancer and people who survived. They are our Charity Runners, and we hope you will join them.

The runners are able to make their miles more meaningful by dedicating their efforts to the fight against cancer. Through their training, sharing their stories with other runners, and meeting the challenges of their journey, these runners can make memories to last a lifetime. Won't you become a Charity Runner?

Charity Runner participants make a minimum fundraising commitment of $800 for the fight against cancer. In return for their fundraising commitment, Charity Runner participants will receive many benefits, including:

Personalized Web site to assist in fundraising efforts
Local training
Exclusive American Cancer Society racing shirt
Personal web page to enhance your fundraising efforts
Opportunity to dedicate your participation in memory or in honor of a oved one touched by cancer
Charity Runner is the American Cancer Society’s signature endurance event program that enables athletes of all levels to turn their passion for half-marathons, marathons, triathlons, or cycling races into a lifesaving effort to fight cancer.

Since 1996, the American Cancer Society has helped more than 5,000 athletes meet their training and race goals, while empowering them to raise more than $5.2 million to take us one step closer to the day when cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease.

Our mission as a nationwide community-based voluntary health organization is to eliminate cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.
