Ten of the top real-life quidditch teams from around the country will compete in a grounded version of the high-flying sport from the Harry Potter novels. This is no dungeons & dragons crowd - these players participate in a co-ed, full-contact sport that combines rugby and dodgeball.
Teams include Boston University, University of Minnesota, Middlebury College from Vermont, and a Western All-star team.
The event is organized by the International Quidditch Association and the Boston Cannons, a Major League Lacrosse team (2011 Season Champions). After the quidditch tournament is over, ticket holders may enter Harvard Stadium (along with 10,000 other fans) to watch the Cannons season opener versus the Rochester Rattlers.
