The purpose is to direct people’s attention to at-risk young readers. Buttonwood welcomes Mama Steph, musician, songwriter and children’s musical entertainer on Thu. Oct. 8 at 4 PM to read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and entertain children with her wonderful songs and musical program. Additional activities include a craft and refreshments.
Read for the Record is a national campaign organized by Jumpstart, in partnership with Person Foundation, to focus attention on reading and service, and support Jumpstart’s year-round work in America’s preschools. Please join Mama Steph at Buttonwood and help break the record for the largest shared reading experience ever.

Take Rte. 3 South to EXIT 14 (Rte. 228 - Hingham, Rockland, Cohasset). At bottom of exit,
take a LEFT. Follow Rte. 228 North for approximately four miles where the road makes a turn to the right (green sign straight ahead that reads:
Rte. 228 North Nantasket - 4miles, Scituate - 9 miles)
Bear RIGHT, and follow Rte. 228 North as it ambles its way for another approximately two miles to its intersection with Rte. 3A at a light. (Rte. 228 is clearly marked, but it does wander!)
Take a RIGHT at this light. Follow Rte. 3A through TWO traffic lights, (there is a yellow blinking light, DO NOT COUNT THIS in the total)
Take a RIGHT at the THIRD light and a
quick left into Shaw's Plaza.
Buttonwood is to the left of Shaw's in the plaza.
