Children in grades K-8 are welcome to join WCT’s 25th Anniversary Youth Chorus. Our original musical, Stages! A Celebration of 25 Years, will include two youth chorus groups, grades K-2 and 3-8, to provide narration for the story through familiar musical theatre songs. Rehearsals begin February 7 and the Anniversary Dinner Party and Show will be held March 7, 2009 at Watertown High School. WCT Alumni who are interested in participating in this production should contact WCT for more information.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock and roll parable, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, tells a story of dreams, forgiveness and reconciliation. 4th to 8th graders will sing, dance, and bring Joseph and his family to life in this fully staged musical production. Rehearsals begin January 11 and the program culminates with performances in the Charles Mosesian Theater on April 3-5, 2009. Little Dreamers, our companion program for 1st and 2nd graders, offers Monday afternoon classes where they will learn songs and dances to perform along with the cast of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Classes begin on Monday, February 2.

For 2nd and 3rd grade actors who want to explore a magical world of their own, WCT’s Play Factory Series offers a production of James and the Giant Peach. A small cast will work with professional staff to rehearse and perform this thrilling adventure for WCT audiences and a visiting school group. Rehearsals begin January 6, and performances in the Arsenal Center for the Arts’ Black Box Theatre will be February 13 and 14, 2009.

For Grades K and 1, we also offer a Saturday morning class, based on Ezra Jack Keats’ The Snowy Day. Imagination, costumes, props and performance skills will be part of this workshop that brings to life a magical world created by freshly fallen snow. Classes are Saturday mornings, January 10-31.

And don’t forget to think ahead to Aladdin, our February Vacation Program for Grades 1-5, February 17-20. Theatre games, costumes, sets, and the story of Aladdin’s adventure will set the stage for this four day drama experience, ending with a performance for family and friends.
