Students who have completed Grades 5-8 are invited to journey back to medieval times and discover a world of daring feats, royalty, and chivalry in Mark Twain’s A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. Hank is a modern day kid who finds himself transported back to the thrilling days of King Arthur, Queen Guenevere and the Knights and Ladies of the Round Table.

This program runs Monday-Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, July 6-17, 2009 and the final performance will be part of the all-day CBACT Children’s Theatre Festival, hosted by Watertown Children’s Theatre at the Arsenal Center for the Arts on Saturday, July 18.

Actors who have completed Grades 3-5 can discover the creative opportunities that emerge when you combine the magic of theatre, a few props, and imagination with the contents of a very large, old trunk in Treasure Trunk Theatre. Participants will explore acting skills, improvisation, movement, voice and theatre design, as well as adapt chosen stories for the stage and create their own mini-productions for an audience of family and friends. This program runs Monday-Friday, 9 am – 4 pm from July 27-August 7, 2009 at the Arsenal Center for the Arts.

To end the summer, Watertown Children’s Theatre and Arsenal Center for the Arts co-sponsor a journey to discover mythical creatures and fascinating adventures through drama, visual art, dance and music, inspired by Maurice Sendak’s book Where the Wild Things Are. Children who have completed grades K-2 are invited to register for this fun and action-packed two weeks including theatre games, singing, “wild” movement and more. This program runs Monday-Friday, 9 am- 4 pm from August 17-28, 2009 at the Arsenal Center for the Arts.
